Memorial Classic Golf Tournament tees off today; RGA offers event to departed members

Showtime is at 6:30 a.m.

CNMI ace golfer and officer of RGA, Jess I Wabol, said they are holding the event to three of their beloved members who passed away.

Plas Tagabuel, Sid Peter, and Tony Taitano are the RGA members who left a lasting legacy and good memories to their fellow golfers in the association.

“On behalf of RGA, we’re appreciative” to all sponsors who demonstrated their generosity for the tournament, Wabol said.

The 2008 RGA Memorial Classic Golf Tournament is a charity sports event which aims to help Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School to fund the upgrade of its facilities.

GTC elementary school has 225 estimated total numbers of students.

Wabol informed Variety that the tournament has added special prizes to winners in designated holes in the green.

He said that top five golfers who can shoot closest to the pin at Hole #6 will receive an entry coupon worth $200 to the Tournament of Champions.

Other prizes at stake at the hole are gift certificates from Gold’s Gym, Aquarius Hotel, Troughs, and Beach Tower.

A certain fee is required before the winners can claim their prizes, Wabol said.

RGA will also give away prizes to the player who can fashion closest to the pin at Hole #8. Prizes include a box of Tleist NXTour, a polo shirt, and a golf towel.

Winner of the closest to the pin at Hole #12 will receive a hand travel bag, umbrella, and golf balls.

A $1,000-cash prize is at stake to the participant who can shoot a Hole-in-One at Hole 316, Wabol mentioned.
