The Senate held a session yesterday to tackle funding for the inauguration rites.
The funding for the inauguration is a rider to the proposed bill amending the statute on the mandatory retirement after 30 years of service.The Senate will hold another session today.President-Elect Johnson Toribiong said pending the approval of the funding, his camp has already begun soliciting from the private sector.His camp originally wanted $185,000 for the inauguration but the Senate reduced it to $150,000.Last Tuesday, CTSI- Western Union donated $2,000 to Toribiong’s transition committee to help finance the inauguration ceremony.Toribiong said despite the lack of money, there will be an inauguration ceremony.
