Tinian teams pull out from Christmas Hookfest

With Tinian teams unable to attend the annual tournament, the 14-and-under Boys Division will consist only of 10 teams while the 18-and-under Boys Division, 12 teams.

White also said that Hoopfest games hosted by Department of Community and Cultural Affairs’ Division of Youth Services, Division Sports & Recreation, Saipan Mayor’s Office and Basketball Association of Northern Mariana Islands will be held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym and no longer will there be a game at the Marianas High School gym as earlier planned.

Due to this change, the organizers have to revise final schedule of the games.

White assured the schedule will be done by yesterday and hopes no more changes or revisions after that.

The teams playing in the U14 Boys Division are Rollers A, Rollers B, Little Sonics, G-Stars, Sixers 1, Sixers 2, Hopwood, Hilitai, LMA and ChaCha Oceanview JHS.

 In the U18 Boys Division, the teams playing are Rollers A, Rollers B, Rollers C, Saipan Southern High Mantas, Sonics, Jr. Sonics, G-Stars, Ayuyus, Runnin’ Rebels, Ol’Aces, Sixers, and ACS Torchbears.

 The two teams in the U14 Girls Division are Hopwood and ChaCha Oceanview JHS, while the U18 girls’ teams include

Marianas High School 1, Marianas High School 2, Lady Ayuyus of Kagman High School and Lady Knights of Mount Carmel.

All of the girls’ teams in both divisions will play round robin.

The two teams in the U14 will play for the championship while the four teams in the U18 will have a playoff to advance to the championship game.

 Elimination games are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 27; Monday, Dec. 29 and Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Playoffs will be on Friday, Jan. 2 and the championship games will be on next Saturday, Jan. 3.
