Laolao Bay Golf resort unveils new facilities

Kumho Asiana, the parent company of Laolao and Asiana Airlines, re-affirmed its commitment to proceed with its business projects on Saipan despite the global recession.

“On behalf of our headquarters, I humbly ask that you all bear witness to the fruit of Kumho Asiana’s commitment,” said BK Kim, president of Kumho Resorts, in his speech. “And again, we re-affirm our continuing commitment as evidenced by the continuing development of the golftel. This is our commitment.”

He said the global recession will definitely take its toll on many businesses but Kumho is here to stay.

“We are now in the midst of a global economic phenomenon, with effects reaching far beyond what the world has ever seen before. Now, more than ever, is the time for us to link hands and persevere, most importantly together. As the great slave from ancient Greece Aesop taught through his fables, ‘United we stand. Divided we fall,’” he said.

With Yun Kim, the president of Laolao Bay Golf Resort, the Kumho Resorts executive, launched their new clubhouse, a customer lounge area, reception counter, proshop, the Crystal Vew Restaurant, the newly renovated started area, the 90 brand-new environmentally golf carts and a new tee-house overlooking the golf course.

Yun Kim said Kumho envisions Saipan to be the golf capital of the Pacific. But he said the local community’s help is needed to realize this goal.

Gov.  Benigno R. Fitial, for his part, urgedother local leaders and the Legislature to help LaoLao proceed with its project smoothly.

“I call on all of our elected officials to renew their commitment to this company, which has committed so much investment capital and flight capacity to the CNMI for so many years, during both bull and bear markets,” he said.

“Few other investors can produce the synergy, value and integration that this Group brings to this project and to the people of the CNMI. Here, with this project and investment commitment, we will have a convergence of unparalleled flight service, exceptional resort accommodations, and world class recreational golfing opportunities,” he added.

Another clubhouse is under construction at Laolao. Three towers and seven independent structure golf villas and another tee-house will be built.
