Documents of unpaid wages recovered from missing guest worker’s room

Irene N. Tantiado, United Workers Movement, NMI president, said Matubis turned over to her all the documents recovered from Alex Matubis’ room.

Tantiado said she will ask Philippine Consul General Wilfredo DL. Maximo to arrange a meeting with Candido Castro, the employer of Alex Matubis.

While on Saipan, Mrs. Matubis asked Castro & Associates to settle the unpaid wages of her husband during their meeting with the consul general.

But the employer said Mrs. Matubis must prove that the company owed her husband money.

The documents found in Mr. Matubis’ room indicated payroll summary for the five of Castro & Associate employees, including Alex Matubis.

Tantiado said based on the documents Mr. Matubis had $5,738.50 in collectibles from his employer as of Jan. 3, 2008.

“His employer should settle his obligation to Alex,” Tantiado said.

The papers also showed that he had a total $1,875 cash advances in 18 transactions.

According to the payroll summary, he collected $535 from June 18 to 29 and $507 from July 2 to 13.

His lowest payroll amounted to $430 which usually covered 11 working days.

Alex Matubis, who worked for Castro & Associates for 22 years, has been missing since July 29.
