Karidat receives donations from Hopwood

On Friday, the 48 members of the My Wave Club and their advisers at Hopwood Junior High School turned over to Karidat Director Angie V. Guerrero 450 assorted canned goods.

“We like everyone to enjoy Christmas,” said Frankie Angel, the club’s adviser. “This is also a training in upholding Christian values.”

Marjorie Ann Cuerdo, the club’s president, is hoping that other people will also provide assistance to the poor and less fortunate in the community.

Epi Cabrera, another club adviser, said the number of canned goods they collected have tripled compared to last year.

This is the second year that the school’s My Wave Club initiated the food campaign for Karidat, he said.

Club advisers Freddie Salavaria, Tim Williams and Brel Felisa were also present during the turnover of goods to Karidat.

Guerrero said Karidat started receiving food donations even before the Thanksgiving celebration.

Mount Carmel School topped the list as the biggest donor as of press time.

Other donors included Garapan Elementary School, Sister Remedios Early Childhood Development Center, Marianas High School JROTC, G.T. Camacho Elementary School, San Antonio Elementary Schol, the National Honor Society of Kagman High School, Kagman High School JROTC, Mount Cathedral Parish, Kristo Rai Parish, San Vicente Parish, and the Saipan Mayor’s Office.

Terry Cruz contributed 10 cases of milk and some individual also donated assorted goods and clothes but they don’t want to be identified, Guerrero said.
