36 police cadets to graduate in time for the holidays

Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro told the Variety yesterday that the 9th Police Cycle graduation is slated at 9:30 a.m. at the multi-purpose center in Susupe.

“The Police Academy instructors tried hard to finish the training and catch the graduation in time for the cadets to help with the holiday season,” Ogumoro said.

She said five of the police cadets are from Tinian, four from Rota, four from Yap and 23 from Saipan.

“We have one cadet from the Office of the Public Auditor, one from the Division of Labor and one from the Attorney General’s Investigative Unit,” Ogumuro said.

She added that these three are presently employed by these agencies and will continue to perform their duties as deputized police officers after graduation.

The 20 cadets will help address the shortage of manpower at DPS, she said.

The cadets started training at the Police Academy on Sept. 2 under   Police Operations Commander Capt. Lawrence Camacho, Senior Drill Instructor PO3 Frankie Pangelinan and Drill Instructors PO2 Nicholas Leon Guerrero and PO1 Regino Celis, Jr.

Ogumoro is inviting the community to show their support by attending the graduation of the police cadets on Tuesday.

On Dec. 4,   19 fire cadets  graduated following four months of rigorous training.

The Fire Academy held its graduation rites at the Charles Cabaret of the Pacific Islands Club.
