Jericho Cruz was G-Stars’ power tower as he led the team rally past Rollers A, 86-77.
During the playoff last Friday, Cruz bombarded Rollers B with follow-up shots as he dominated offensive rebounds to help G-Stars clinch for the finals beating the Rollers B, 103-73.
Cruz was this year’s Christmas Hoopfest most valuable player for 18-and-under boys division.
The fantastic five include Rollers A’s Manny Matagolai and Don Teregeyo; Sixers’ Joseph Ada; Ol’ Aces’ Trevor Ogumoro and Sonics point guard, Michael Eclevia.
The 10 tournament scorers are Rollers A’s Zack Tudela who fired 140 points; Manny Matagolai with 137 points and Don Teregeyo with 96 points; Sixer’s Joseph Ada who scored 86 points; G-Stars’ Marvin Rabauliman with 83 points and Jericho Cruz with 78 points; Rollers B’s Brandon Aulerio with 77 points; Rollers A’s Luizi Reyes with 76 points; Sonics’ Tristan Ecalnea with 76 points; Novo Pepito with 73pts and Sonics’ Michael Eclevia with 72 points.
In the 14-and-under boys division, Lil’ Sonics defeated Sixers, 78-83.
Lil’ Sonics’ Max Camacho was the tenth highest scorer of the short-lived basketball fest but his various skills in the court were enough to convince everybody he was the most valuable player in the division.
He was also included in the fantastic with team mate, John Darag; Sixers; Jack Aranda and Jed Villanueva, and Sixers 2’s Raymond Villagomez.
The to 10 scorers were Lil Sonics’ John Darag with 100 points; Sixers 1’s John Cenir with 92 points; Tanner Maratita with 85 points; Jack Aranda with 68 points; Nevin Salem with 62 points and Ralph Francisco with 62 points; Rollers A’s Lester Vertudez with 59 points and Lawrence Deleon Guerrero with 55 points; Lil’ Sonics’ Angelo Salas with 54 points; Sixers 1’s Jed Villanueva with 50 points and Lil’ Sonics’ Max Camacho with 48 points.
In 14-and-under girls division, Hopwood Junior High School won the title.
The fantastic five include Victoria Reyes who scored 31 points; Stephanie Camacho, Mikky Vargas, Azuko Halstead and Lailani Rabauliman.
In the 18-and-under girls division, Lady Knights defeated Lady Ayuyus, 61-55.
Lady Knights’ Roxanne Duenas who scored 24 points won the MVP award.
She was also among the fantastic five together with team mates, Noelle Calvo, Nicole Lebria, Lady Ayuyus’ Mercedes Mesa and Marianas High Schoo 1’s Lalaine Pagarao.
Duenas also top the 10 highest scores with 93 points. Behind her were Marianas High School 2’s Lia Rangamar who scored 86 points; Lena Guzman with 79 points; Lady Ayuyus’ Yvonne Bennett with 70 points; Lady Knights’ Noelle Calvo with 68 points; MHS 1’s Lalaine Pagarao with 68 points; MHS 2’s Jenequa Benavente with 63 points; MHS 1’s Riza Tacliad with 58 points; Lady Ayuyu’s Nikita Hofscneider with 57 points; MHS 2’s Ira Palero with 53 points and Lady Ayuyu’s Mercedes Mesa with 45 points.
