Well, it might be an unpopular move; it is also a detriment to anyone seeking re-election. As for his motive one can only think that he is politically aligning himself, as in the case of certifying new positions in government at a time of huge financial crisis and revenue shortfalls.
All of you that are up for re-election are now in a deadlocked situation. A move granting the governor his request will mean your seat in office. Not only is our Retirement Fund heading for total disaster or possible bankruptcy — his idea of austerity will surely fast-track the inevitable chaos. There will be a lot of disgruntled retirees, pending retirees, and newcomers.
You see regardless of whether the governor loses or wins this election he will have ultimate control of our government from the outside — all his political and backdoor hires are now holding positions in office under the protection of the Civil Service Commission and are untouchable.
It’s funny how this situation came about, but as the old saying goes, “What goes around comes around to haunt you,” and especially when some of you were once colleagues and a part of the predicament we face today.
Now some of you are finding yourselves rivals caught in the crossfire in the pursuit of the highest elective post of our homeland.
So, go ahead lawmakers; it’s your move…the King is waiting for the Kill.
