PSS has 4 new mini buses for special education program

(PSS) — The Public School System Special Education Program has procured four new mini buses for transporting students with disabilities to and from various public schools in the CNMI.

These vehicles are designed for  sitting passengers and equipped to safely secure up to three wheelchairs, with side or rear door loading.

The funds for purchasing the mini buses came from the Special Education Program, according to its director, Donna Flores.

The vehicles were delivered Wednesday to the PSS Office of Pupil Transportation in Lower Base.

Saipan will utilize two of the mini buses while Tinian and Rota will have one each.

Special Education Program Director Flores extends her appreciation to Commissioner of Education Dr. Alfred B. Ada, Federal Programs Officer Tim Thornburgh and the PSS Office of Pupil Transportation for overseeing the purchase.

In March,  PSS procured 16 vans to  expand its transportation fleet which serves public schools on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
