BLUEHAUS swept Eagles Construction in a best-of-three championship series to clinch the masters division title of the Saipan Centennial Lions Club Basketball League at TSL Sports Complex.
In game 1, BlueHaus came out with guns blazing, converting back-to-back three-pointers. Their tight defense also held Eagles Construction under 10 points as BlueHaus seized a comfortable lead, 32-8.
They never looked back and held onto a huge margin until the very end to secure the win.
In game 2 on Saturday, Eagles Construction shook off the jitters and put up a fight.
BlueHaus again established dominance early in the opening quarter as they moved the ball smoothly, creating shot opportunities for everyone on the floor.
Tony Diaz led the assault by firing seven points while Santos, Ed Diaz, and Guiab bombarded from behind the three-point line for a 30-18 spread.
In the second quarter, Eagles Construction’s Ocampo showcased his consistent jumper around the perimeter, delivering six points while team mates Itaas, Sublemente and Umali also provided much needed buckets.
However, BlueHaus’ Guiab was relentless inside the paint while team mate Tony Diaz fed from the fastbreak plays to maintain their team’s double-digit lead.
In the third quarter, Eagles Construction started to play with more confidence as Surima, Alegre, Umali, Ocampo and Itaas delivered to reduce BlueHaus’ lead, 61-70.
Eagles Construction tried to maintain their momentum in the final canto, but they failed to defend well, allowing BlueHaus’ Santos to score two triples while Ed Diaz and Peredo added four points apiece to secure the win as well as the championship, 98-89.
BlueHaus was undefeated throughout the season.
