EAGLE Construction and BlueHaus will clash in a best-of-three championship series in the masters division of the Saipan Centennial Lions Club Basketball League after eliminating their semifinal foes Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex.
Eagle Construction secured their spot in the finals by outhustling NAPA, 92-74.
Both teams played well in the first half.
It was a high-scoring first quarter with NAPA on the attack. Their constant ball movement kept options open on the offensive end, leading to a balanced production with each player on the court contributing.
Bartolo led the run with six points with Manabat and De Guzman scoring four points each to give NAPA a 27-22 lead.
However, in the second canto, NAPA started to slack off which allowed Eagle Construction to execute unselfish plays and seize the lead, 41-38.
In the third quarter, Eagle Construction continued to deliver with Santos and Ocampo working the paint as they scored 8 and 6 points to widen their team’s lead.
NAPA attempted to step up on offense with De Guzman, Tobias and Abuy at the frontline, but with more misses than makes, they remained behind, 59-67.
In the final quarter, Eagle Construction sealed the deal led by Santos’ 8 points and Singca and Consino’s combined 12 points.
NAPA could only score 15 team points as Eagle Construction soared to victory, 92-74.
BlueHaus vs MDC
BlueHaus secured the other ticket to the finals after overpowering MDC, 108-98.
Despite an even battle in the opening quarter, BlueHaus’ chemistry and strength eventually manhandled MDC throughout the rest of the game.
The spotlight was on BlueHaus’ Guiab as he was simply unstoppable. His ability to score from anywhere provided his team with 14 points in the second canto alone. He then added nine more points in the third quarter, and with the help of his teammates, BlueHaus was firmly in the lead, 81-68.
But MDC refused to be counted out until the final buzzer. In the final quarter, their survival instincts kicked in with Sedillo and Calbone scoring eight points each while Villarin, Catalla and Tolentino chipped in their share to cut the deficit to 10 points.
But BlueHaus kept their cool and used the clock to their advantage as they held their ground long enough to defeat MDC, 108-98.
Eagle Construction’s Umali extends for the uncontested shot during a masters division game of the Saipan Centennial Lions Club Basketball League at the TSL Sports Complex.
