CHCC sees ‘uptick’ in positive Covid-19 cases

COMMONWEALTH Healthcare Corporation Chief Executive Officer Esther L. Muna has noted a slight increase in the number of positive Covid-19 community cases in the CNMI.

“We are seeing an uptick of cases in the community,” she said in a media briefing Friday. “There [are] no changes in protocol, but we are reminding individuals, especially those that are vulnerable and also those with family members in the household that are vulnerable, to continue to practice the 3Ws just to protect themselves.”

The 3Ws are washing your hands, wearing a mask, and watching your distance.

On Monday evening, CHCC reported that as of June 5, 2022, there were 0 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19.

 However, 37 additional individuals had been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 11,403 cases since March 28, 2020.

Of the 37 cases:

8 on May 30, 2022

6 on May 31, 2022

3 on June 1, 2022

8 on June 2, 2022

5 on June 3, 2022

1 on June 4, 2022

6 on June 5, 2022

Muna said Covid-19 vaccinations are still available at the CHCC Immunization Clinic, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Children who are at least 5 years old are now eligible for booster shots, five months after completing their primary Covid-19 vaccine series.

CHCC said as of June 6, 2022, a total of 23,360 Covid-19 additional/booster vaccine shots had been administered; of the eligible population, 62.6% had received an additional dose.
