Ghasias Brothers rule Rocball

The Brothers ensured the juice-out victory at the end of the fourth set, with a distant lead against Fanians, 26-19.

This is a successful come back the Brothers’ just made after retiring from an earlier triple-crown.

With a one-point lead, 67-66, the Ghaisias Brothers was in a moment of truth that no overtime was likely to happen and only had to win the decisive set to end the series and regain their championship title.

On the other hand, the Fanians only had to win set four with a two-point margin to force the Brothers into game three.

Back in the beginning of the game, both teams traded scores with almost one hour of game behind them, eking out 12 points each.

James W. Feger, Rocball organizer, recaps the final game as follows:

The Brothers continued to mix up their plays scoring hard and soft from the backcourt, spiking and dinking at the net, scoring from either side of the net, and down the middle of the court.

In their bid to recapture the title of the world’s best Rocball team, the Brothers suffered a couple of setbacks along the way.

In their effort to regain Rocballall’s number one spot, the Brothers lost two games during the regular season and came within one play of losing the first game of the championship playoffs with the Fanians; a game that went 1 hour and 20 minutes with no time outs, no half time breaks, and no break between regulation play and overtime sets.

In the second game that earned the Ghaisias Brothers their triumphant return to Rocball, the Brothers and Fanians exchanged sets one and two with a 28 to 18 win first set to the Brothers, and a 28 to 14 set win for the Fanians.

At half time of regulation play, the Fanians had a four point lead 46 to 42. The Ghaisias Brothers outscored the Fanians in set three 25 to 20 and regain the lead, 67 to 66.

With a game score of just one point between teams, it was almost inevitable, that there wasn’t going to be any overtime.

Only one other team in Recall history has excelled as much as the Ghaisias Brothers and that was a team from Chuuk called the Nails back in the late eighties and early nineties of the 20th Century.
