The  budget hearing for the Tinian Mayor’s Office will be held on May 19  at the Kotten Tinian in San Jose, Tinian at 10 a.m., to be followed by a budget hearing for the Tinian Municipal Council at 11 a.m.

The hearing will continue throughout the afternoon for Finance, Commerce and Labor.

On May 20, another budget hearing will be held on Tinian for the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

The vice chair of Ways and Means is Rep. Corina Magofna. The members are Reps. Denita Yangetmai, Sheila Babauta, Celina Babauta, Richard Lizama, Vicente Camacho, Leila Staffler, Edwin Propst, Tina Sablan, Patrick San Nicolas and Joel Camacho.

The governor submitted his budget proposal on April 1.

A balanced FY 2023 budget measure must be enacted by Oct. 1, 2022 to avoid a partial government shutdown.
