(Press Release) — The Bayani or Heroes Association, in cooperation with the LGBTQ+ Hairdressers and Barbers of Saipan, offered free haircuts to community members on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the Garapan Round House.
Fifty-nine individuals availed themselves of the free haircuts as well as blood pressure and blood sugar checks and hand sanitizers courtesy of the Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence.
It was another successful Bayani Association community event, its president Annamae Adaza said. In February the group hosted its well-received fundraising “Queen of Drag 2022” pageant as part of Bayani’s 20th anniversary celebration.
Adaza said the public was thankful for the group’s free haircut special project.
“It is nice seeing a family of five availing themselves of the free haircuts,” she said. “They saved some money and the kids are happy to get a haircut.”
Adaza said she is very grateful to Sunny Side Café, project coordinator Ernie Molina and other Bayani officers and members for their help and support.
“We are also so grateful for the unwavering support of Saipan’s hairdressers and barbers, namely, Patrick and Nestea of Jigz Barbershop & Beauty Salon, Cecile of Genoveva’s Hair Power, Aileen of BeYou Tiful Beauty Salon, Shine of Gene’s Barbershop, Rica and Pia of Mary’s Salon, Joanne of Creative Salon, Edwin of SaLyn’s Beauty Salon, Evelyn, Irma, and Eydie Uy of Makeover Salon.”
Adaza said Bayani will organize another special project in the near future.
