LARRY Deleon Guerrero seized the spotlight on Sunday, April 24, by clinching the Saipan Golf Association 2022 April Ace of the Month title at Coral Ocean Resort.
Deleon Guerrero struggled on the front nine, ending with a gross score of 47, but he improved his swing and precision on the back nine, ending with a gross of 44 for a total score of 91. With a handicap of 21, his net score was 70, good enough for first place.
Right behind him was Alex Tudela who closed the front nine with a gross of 40 and shot 41 on the back nine for a total score of 81. His 10 handicap gave him a net score of 71.
The battle for third place was tight but it was Ton Benavente who came out on top against Rene Batallones in the scorecard playoff.
Benavente played well, scoring a gross of 39 on both the front and back nines for a total score of 78. With a handicap of 6, his net score was 72.
Batallones garnered the same net score but his gross scores were 46 and 42 on the front and back nines so he had to settle for fourth place.
In the side events, the Closest to the Pin Award went to Mario Fajardo for holes #3 and #12; Ton Benavente for hole #7; and Nick Sablan for hole #14.
The longest drive was also claimed by Benavente for holes #6 and #18.
Larry now joins Edward C. Sablan (January), Frances M. Sablan (February) and Nick Sablan (March) on the list of the 2022 SGA Aces of the Month.
