Never easy and cheap, the renovation of the beach volleyball court located at the hotel’s beach front turned out to be just a phone call away.
When the Northern Marianas Volleyball Association, the organizers of the recently held two-person tournament addressed this problem, Seafix, the island’s premier industrial and marine machine and fabrication shop, was more than happy to design and fabricate a state of the art and FIVB regulation-compliant beach volleyball posts in the area.
“The old court was old and deteriorated to the point that it was uninviting to play on from both tourists’ and local players’ perspectives and so the equipment had to be renovated” Laurie Peterka said.
After planning and preparation, the action got underway last Feb 15 two separate men’s and women’s divisions vying for the prizes offered by Fiesta Resort.
At the end of the day, the tournament exceeded everyone’s expectations and was enjoyed by both players and spectators.
NMIVA’s Russ Quinn, during closing comments, noted that “the level of play here today was exceptional and certainly provides us all with an inside peek at the quality of competition that awaits us at the Marianas Cup.”
