Tax attorney, PSS chief to speak at Chamber meeting

THE Saipan Chamber of Commerce will hold its September general membership meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, at the Hibiscus Hall, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan.

The meeting will feature two distinguished guest speakers, attorney Tina Azarvand, Esq. of Azarvand Tax Law, and Dr. Lawrence Camacho, commissioner of education for the CNMI Public School System.

Azarvand will discuss key tax and compliance issues for CNMI employers, including the USCIS-IRS cooperation agreement, strategies for businesses facing financial hardship, the impacts of IRS noncompliance on Social Security benefits, and proposed changes to the tax code.

Camacho will present insights from the recent CNMI Stakeholders Conference on “The Portrait of the Graduate,” focusing on initiatives to prepare students with the academic, technical, and workforce skills essential to the CNMI’s economic future.

A section of the September GMM will also celebrate the awarding of the SCC Annual Scholarship Program recipients, recognizing our outstanding scholars in the community.

The Chamber encourages members, business owners, and community leaders to attend this important event. The discussions will provide valuable insights on current business challenges and workforce development, while also offering an opportunity to connect with peers and support the Chamber’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the CNMI’s economic future.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the meeting beginning promptly at 12 noon. The luncheon fee is $35 for Chamber members and $40 for future members.
