Saipan Humane Society expands veterinary services across NMI

SAIPAN Humane Society recently completed a highly successful veterinary clinic in partnership with the MARS Ambassador Program, providing care to 374 pets over eight days.

The clinic included a special outreach event at Atkins Kroll, where free rabies vaccines and Seresto flea/tick collars, provided by Banfield Foundation, were distributed.

During the visit, Dr. Lisa Powell also performed five specialized surgeries, offering critical care to pets in need.

SHS extends thanks to local businesses for their support: Paradise Dental, Spicy Thai, and Great Harvest provided meals for the visiting team, and Atkins Kroll hosted the highly successful outreach event.

Looking ahead, SHS announced regular veterinary visits for the remainder of the year. Dr. Mariah Coakley will return from the Banfield Foundation for a spay/neuter-focused clinic from Sept. 15–25. This will be Dr. Coakley’s third visit to the CNMI, following her July clinic where she performed 144 spay/neuter surgeries.

Additionally, a local donor generously funded Dr. Coakley’s visit to Rota from September 20–24 for a free spay/neuter clinic. Services during the Rota clinic will include:

• Spay and neuter surgeries performed by Dr. Mariah Coakley

• Free Seresto flea/tick collars and vaccinations, provided by Banfield Foundation

• Pet food distribution to support local pet owners

The clinic will be held at Round House, and pet owners are encouraged to register through the SHS website to secure a spot. Signing up ahead of time will help the team to prepare supplies most effectively.

“Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality veterinary care to pets across the CNMI,” said Clinic Director Ruby Ma. “We are grateful for the opportunity to visit Rota and provide care there, and we hope to see many pets during our visit!”
