(NMI GOP) — The Republican Party of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands issues the following statement following Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore Timothy Bellas ruling that denies the motion of Sen. Paul A. Manglona to intervene in the lawsuit of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres against the House Committee on Judiciary and Governmental Operations:
“We thank Judge Pro Tem Bellas for following the rule of law. His ruling reinforces our trust in our judicial system. His ruling is testimony that despite the noise and disinformation campaign by the Democrats, the judiciary maintains its longstanding and respected reputation as being an independent, noble, and rational body of jurists governed by the rule of law and not emotions or political innuendo.
“Further, unlike the botched JGO hearings driven by Rep. Celina Roberto Babauta, the court applied the rule of law and decorum. Today’s ruling slams the door on runaway baseless arguments and selective application of the law.
“The court ruled that there is no conspiracy. Tens of thousands of dollars were needlessly wasted by Senator Manglona and the Democrats’ failed attempt to delay the process.
“The moral of the story: just because the Democrats say it’s happening doesn’t make it true. Even the courts know this.
“The bottom-line is that the Democrats are failing in their every attempt to delay the process, spin the truth and grab for power ahead and outside of a fair, honest and open election.
“The CNMI Republican Party thanks the attorneys and officers of the court for a fair and impartial hearing. The party encourages its supporters to remain humble, always side with the truth and to have faith in God and the good of humanity to advance our movement forward and lift our community up.”
