Local fans weigh in on NBA finals

AFTER eliminating the Miami Heat in the seventh and final game of the East Conference finals, the Boston Celtics will face the Golden State Warriors for the National Basketball Association championship.

Most of the local fans interviewed by Variety believe that the Warriors will outshine their worthy opponents.

“I choose the Warriors to win it in six games,” certified personal trainer Jerry Diaz said.

Since 2015, the Warriors have been in the finals five times, and have won three times, Diaz added.

“They’re a hybrid of experienced and young players. Most importantly is that their coaching staff led by Steve Kerr is able to adapt and adjust against each opponent. Finally, their star players Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Clay Thompson are all unselfish and hungry for another title. They won’t take this opportunity lightly.”

Sonics basketball coach and vlogger Omar Ajoste expects the Warriors to win in  five games.

“But, to make it fun, Warriors in seven,” he said. “Boston is a good team, yes, but my prediction is that the Warriors will be the champions of the 2021-2022 season.”

“Warriors  in six,” said Richard Peredo, a member of the BlueHaus basketball team that recently won the masters division championship.

“It’s going to be a tight series but the Warriors will win it and Steph Curry will get his finals MVP,” he added.

Avid basketball player Dexter Tenorio said he has been a “solid Chicago Bulls fan since I was a kid, but this time I will give it to the Warriors. Good ball movements, solid shooters and the big advantage is the championship experience. It will be 4-2, Golden State Warriors.”

Paradise Realty player/coach Jave Sablan said “it’s a great matchup because you’ve got such a strong offensive powerhouse in the Warriors and one of the best defensive teams in the Celtics. It’s definitely going to be an intense series and I can see it going to seven games. My son is rooting for the Warriors so I’ve got to back him up and go with the Warriors in seven!”

Lakay/Islander player Keith Santos, however, is rooting for the Celtics.

“It will be a tough series for both teams but I think the Boston Celtics will win, probably 4-3. Although the Warriors have more experience in the finals, they will have a hard time playing Boston because of the Celtics’ defensive skills,” Santos added.
