Saipan mayoral aspirant joins Deleon Guerrero’s ticket

Reyes disclosed his mayoral bid during the gathering at Deleon Guerrero’s residence in As Perdido on Thursday evening.

The former senator, who is running for governor, announced that  Education Commissioner David M. Borja will be his running mate.

In an interview, Reyes said he does not think previous mayors of Saipan were really committed to serving the people.

He said he will run for Saipan mayor because he wants to give the community “what they really need.”

The youth of Saipan, Reyes said, needs help.

He wants the youth to  go to school — high school graduates should go to college and every college graduate should get jobs.

Reyes said this is the reason why he chose Deleon Guerrero’s camp because his running mate, Borja, is an educator.

“I want to see a lot of our dropouts go back to school and have a better future. I want to see them have jobs in the future,” Reyes said.

Aside from Reyes, former Corrections Commissioner Lino Tenorio and former Precinct 4 Rep. Candido B. Taman are also running for mayor.

Tenorio will run as an Independent while Taman, is seeking the Covenant Party’s endorsement.

Former Agriculture Director Donald Flores, a Republican, is also a mayoral candidate.
