Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said DPS received a call at 3:22 a.m. on Feb. 27 reporting a disturbance in front of Leo Poker in San Jose.
She said responding police officers found the victim, a citizen of Palau, lying on his back injured and unresponsive.
Ogumoro said medics were immediately summoned to the scene and they transported the victim to the CHC for treatment.
Ogumoro said a witness told police that he overheard screaming from outside his home and so walked out to verify what was going on.
The witness then discovered the victim already lying on the roadway.
“The male witness further stated that he observed two male individuals running in the north direction toward San Jose Mart; but the witness was unable to identify them,” Ogumoro said.
The victim suffered major injuries and the case is still under investigation.
