Senate Joint Resolution stated that the amended PIF agreement will formally come into force after all the members countries have formally ratified it.
The 16-member PIF is currently subject to the 2000 agreement establishing the PIF secretariat which went into force on August 25, 2005.The resolution said that on Oct. 27, 2005, the revised agreement establishing the PIF was signed in behalf of Palau and signed by all member countries of the PIF.The members of the PUF are Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
