By now our leaders should know that our people have been suffering and struggling for years and they should know that our people don’t want more of the same abuses they are going through right now.
These problems we all face now should change our leaders’ attitudes regarding our people’s sufferings come Nov. 4 — Election Day!
But if some leaders want to ignore the Open Government Act, then we the people will have no clue where our public money is going.
It is the people’s power to vote that can change our leaders’ patterns of behavior.
We must demand that the government complies with the Open Government Act. Even our U.S. president is demanding transparency from U.S. territories that want a piece of the stimulus cake.
In the CNMI, we need leaders with realistic solutions to our problems!
It is our ability to make tough decisions that shape who we are as Pacific islanders. And it is our leaders’ decisions that can get us out of this critical economy.
We all want peace, justice and a fair and vibrant economy, but our image has been tarnished by familia power.
We need the best of the best in a diverse administration. That doesn’t mean we’re going to give up our customs or traditional lifestyle. It means we need to be flexible in doing business with other ethnic groups that can play important roles in improving our island image so more tourists will come here to see the beauty of our islands, and there will be new businesses creating new jobs in the CNMI.
The heart should leverage the brain so that the brain can think correctly, clearly and consistently to do what’s right!
Peace and justice for all.
