Aside from electing new officers, the farmers and Sabalu vendors also discussed plans for the Flame Tree Festival in April.
Pellegrino sells shrimp at the Sabalu market. He harvests the shrimp from his aquaculture farm in Chinatown.
Reelected board member Cabrera said they expect Pellegrino to use his broad business experience to help the Sabalu farmers cope with the challenges they’re facing.
Cabrera said the association needs someone knowledgeable about running a business.
The farmers are planning to form a cooperative that can supply local produce to the U.S. military.
Pellegrino is the right person to lead their association, Cabrera said.
