Reyes says governor didn’t play golf in Korea

“The governor, even if he wanted to, can’t play golf because of his condition. He didn’t play golf. He went there for business purpose,” said Reyes.

The governor continues to undergo weekly physical therapy more than two years after his spinal column was operated to correct a condition known as spinal stenosis — the narrowing of the root cell at the spinal column.

The governor underwent a series of surgery to correct his condition.

He now uses special shoes to support his weight when walking and standing.

The governor, Senate President Pete P. Reyes, Finance Secretary Eloy Inos and Marianas Visitors Authority Chairman Jerry Tan went to Seoul last Friday to hold talks with officials of Kumho Asiana, the parent company of Asiana Airlines, and to convince the company to retain its flights on the Saipan route.

Asiana is suspending its day flights on Saipan starting Sunday through June 30. The airline also reduced the size of its aircraft flying on the route amid a slowdown in travel demand.
