12-year-old student arrested for breaking classroom door

Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said DPS received a call reporting the criminal mischief incident at 11:51 a.m. on March 21.

Ogumoro said preliminary investigation showed that the acting vice principal of GES had already detained the male juvenile when the responding police officers arrived at the scene.

“Police learned that the juvenile  used a hollow block to break the glass door of a fourth grade classroom,” Ogumoro said.

She added that the acting vice principal caught the minor and immediately called the police.

The minor was arrested for criminal mischief and transported to  DPS.

Ogumoro said the  acting vice principal also detained two other students, 11 and 12 years old, for being on campus.

She added that the two minors were later transported to their homes by police officers.
