This has been confirmed by Hunter’s recently named replacement, Peter Lomas.
Lomas told Fijilive news that Hunter is no longer publisher of the Fiji Sun and Sunday Sun newspapers — a position he continued to hold after being deported to Australia on Feb. 28 last year.
“Hunter obviously assisted in the management transition following his sudden deportation,” Lomas said.
He said as far as he knew, Hunter was continuing his career elsewhere in the Australian news media and his vast experience and ability was much in demand.
