Only his second season in the FBL games, Castro has started to make waves and soon to be a another household name for all the Filipino community because of once again performing his best after finishing the match with 25 points to beat the Cardinals. Team mate Joger Supnet and Jun Villena joined the scoring spree by putting up 15 and 14 points respectively. However, the Cardinals would not fold easily as the two Magcalas’ brothers with Morris Gaupo, who came home with 22 points, found their groove midway of the fourth and final period of the action. And after cutting the lead of the Bulls with just 3 points by Gaupo’s field goal beyond the three point line, the team from the Ilocos Region had to call a timeout to settle things out. Consequently, the timeout paid off as they were able to cut the momentum of the Cardinals and worked on a set up offense. With series of ill advised fouls by the Cardinals to Quizora of the Bulls, he was able put points on the board from the free throw line giving them the three point advantage with seconds left in the regulation. Cardinals had the last possession but were not able to connect in a three point attempt to equalize thus gave the Ilocandia – Bulls the win.
In other games, Veteran Nelson Baysa, Tecson, and Clemenia of the Western Union dropped 13 points each in crushing Team Ram-Ballers, 92 – 73. Ilonggo team, Slashers, got a great game from streak shooting Senandre while point guard Basco provided the leadership and Concepcion dominates the painted area to win a close match against team PRA-Choppers, 79 – 64. As for the opening match between Jaguar and defending champion Surangel, Jaguar found hot hands from rookie guard Jerome Ratunil who contributed 21 points coming out of the bench while star players, Jun “the Jet” Lanzuela and Hener “Mr. Three Points” Aguinaldo finished with 16 and 12, respectively with a final score of 83 – 73 against the powerful team of Surangel and Sons. Juvic San Juan scattered 31 points while deadly left-handed three point specialist, De Guzman, shoots for 15 for team Surangel and Sons.
