Saipan Community School open house night highlights excellence and improved facilities

(SCS) — Saipan Community School, a pioneer in the CNMI’s private education with a strong foundation on Christian values, is welcoming back its academic community with a family orientation night that will highlight its commitment to academic excellence and showcase improved facilities that await everyone.

Slated on Thursday, Aug. 21, the SCS Open House and Family Orientation Night begins with a general assembly at 6 p.m. at the SCS chapel, to welcome parents, students, and other community members following the official opening of school on Aug. 13. The event offers families the chance to meet the SCS teachers, including new members of the faculty, along with staff and administrators.

“Our open house is a great opportunity for parents, students, and community members to experience firsthand the excellence that defines Saipan Community School,” Ms. Amanda Dunn, principal at SCS, said. Established in 1976 as the island’s first Protestant Christian school, Saipan Community School offers a U.S. curriculum taught in English with an addition of “Islas” studies in Chamorro and Carolinian for grades 1st-8th grade. “Our school’s commitment to quality education and character development in a family-friendly atmosphere has earned consistent recognition over the years, a testament to the school’s proud and strong reputation,” added Ms. Amanda. Everyone is encouraged to join SCS, she said, as it celebrates “education, growth, and community.”

During the open house, SCS will showcase the continued improvements made to the campus and the many positive developments that God has allowed to happen. These are in addition to last year’s classrooms, music room, and library upgrades, prioritized space for our art room, and student computer lab. For instance, this summer, new gutters were installed on SCS’ Jr. High building, new flooring in the art room and computer lab as well as a new roof on its library. In addition, a new ceiling was installed in the lunch room, and a visitor parking area was constructed in front of the administration building to provide parents with easier access to the office. This is in line with the school’s goal of creating a well-thought-out campus with inspiring and inviting spaces for students to thrive.

Attendees can further expect the following:

• Reminders of school norms and rules;

• Interactions with teachers in their respective classrooms to better understand expectations for the school year;

• Gaining valuable insights into academic goals, curriculum, and co-curricular activities that enhance student learning; and

• Campus tours and classroom visits.

Questions about the SCS open house/ parent orientation and those who are interested in learning more about the institution and the learning opportunities it offers from kindergarten through eighth grade are urged to contact Ms. Amanda via email: principal@saipancommunityschool.com or call (670) 234-6687.

Personal visits at the school’s location on Beach Road in Susupe across from the Mobil gas station are also welcome.
