Down by only 4 points entering the second half of the game, Fers, Kinsley, OJ, and Osamu worked for 22, 18, 17, and 13 points as the Ranchers finished strong at the second half of the game in beating team PCC-Mesekiu. On the other hand, PCC tried to get back by using their quickness and perimeter shooting of Daffy and Chris who contributed with 17 and 13, respectively. However, Ranchers matched their opponent’s fast paced game to eventually drub team Mesekiu with a final score of 79 – 74.
In other Division I playoffs, Styxers barely won the game, 95 – 90, against Surangel as they were able to find their groove at the last canto. Duo, Dennis, and Una scored for 30, 25, and 21 for the winning Styxers while Arnold and Deloy finished with 29 and 25 respectively, on a loosing effort for Surangel. Ngermid-Rivals got good production from Javis, Spis, and Jun with a score of 23, 19, and 13 on that order to crush the hopes of team Breakers to advance to the next round with an end of the match score of 74 – 67. Peched – Raw also joined the winning bracket as the number 1 seed proved to be too much for the Stingers. Douglas and Sunshine took the bulk of the points for team Peched with 28 and 21 in a final tally of 108 – 71, at the same time team Islanders thumped team Blue Sharks, 85 – 75, to also advance to the next round.As a result of the matches, winning teams advances to the next round where team Peched will be waiting for the game between Islanders and Ranchers on 13th of April first game, while Styxers will face Rivals on Wednesday, April 15.The 2009 National Basketball League is supervised and operated by the Palau Basketball Federation.
