“I know of no concern on the part of guest workers about our transfer process, which is operating as it has since the new system began in Feb. 2008,” she said when asked to comment about reports that the 30-day transfer relief will no longer be given after April 30.
Coalition of United Workers, NMI president Rene Reyes said some guest workers were told by Labor that they can no longer avail of the transfer relief starting in May.
“We expressed concern about the plight of those guest workers whose contract were terminated or not renewed,” he said. “We want to get clarification from Labor.”
But Kaipat said “no such comments [from guest workers] have been made to me.”
“If you have a specific name of a particular guest worker whose situation is affected by the transfer system, perhaps you could let me know and I will look into it,” she told Variety.
