Field was charged for getting Thai nationals to carry out work on his properties in New Zealand and Samoa in return for immigration assistance between Nov. 2002 and Oct. 2005.
He was expelled from the Labor Party in 2007, but continued to represent Mangere as an independent MP.
He lost the seat to Labor at last year’s election.
