Air Niugini confirms Falcon jet buy

The Air Niugini executives could not provide more details but said the government would have the opportunity like other charters or resource companies to make use of the plane.

They said the plane was not coming from Canada or Singapore but reliable sources from the Civil Aviation Authority said the purchase was being made in the United States.

CAA officials also told the Post-Courier that the four strips this jet would access would be Jackson’s Airport in Port Moresby, Nadzab in Lae, Vanimo in West Sepik Province and Tokua in East New Britain.

“The amount is wrong — not way out — but not right on target,” the Air Niugini executives said. “It is a private commercial arrangement, why are we being so interfered with?”
