Department of Public Safety spokesman Eric F. David said a caller reported a “sick call” incident at the New Star Market in Tanapag to DPS 911 at 11:20 p.m.
David said when responding police officers arrived, they learned it was a robbery incident.
David said the police officers found the main glass door of the store slightly open and the hallway in front of the cashier’s counter in disarray.
The police officers found the body of the victim, the Korean store owner, behind the cashier’s counter.
David said medics summoned to the scene transported the victim to the Commonwealth Health Center where he was pronounced dead at 1:08 a.m.
David said police are still conducting an investigation.
“We have no suspect or suspects yet, but police officers are still conducting investigation to find out if anything was stolen from the store, and what caused the death of the victim,” David said.
He said DPS is asking the community to provide any information regarding this crime.
“We are asking anyone who has information about the crime to call us at 664-9045/55 or the NMI Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272,” David said.
All calls are kept anonymous and no caller ID is used.
A reward of up to $1,000 will be given for any information that will lead to an arrest.
