Community Groups score big victory from teaming up!

Since the initial funding from SPIF-SIG/COSAP was granted and received back in February, Seeds of Promise Palau Inc. (SOPP) has been busy renovating a space and making game plans for their After 3 Youth Mentorship Program.

After hearing about After 3 and its additional needs Rotary Club soon partnered with SOPP and SPIF- SIG/COSAP to improve their efforts to properly carry out the newly opened program.Recently, Rotary delivered furnishings including desks, book cases and chairs to compliment their previous donations of a camera, library, computers plus educational software and more.  “Only by partnering together have we been able to become victorious in our efforts to host this high quality program.” said Veronica Fox, Vice-President SOPP. “This program helps give youth the tools necessary to ward of peer pressure and be able to make smart personal choices when faced with the decision to use alcohol or drugs.”Youth, ages 10-14, can sign up now for the FREE After 3 summer program which will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from June 16th -July 21st, 3:00-5:00pm.This program will lead up to this years Summer Sports Camp to be held July 27th – 30th.To celebrate the launching of the After 3 program, Seeds of Promise Palau would like to invite their Partners and the community to a fundraising event. “An Afternoon of Entertainment” featuring skits dance and music created by youth who participate in programs that SOPP offers. The fundraiser is to be held Saturday, June 20th, from 2-5pm at Seeds of Promise Palau’s new location in Meyuns.  The cost is $5 at the door and the  proceeds raised will help fund this years summer sports camp.Again, we at Seeds of Promise Palau would like to thank SPIF-SIG/COSAP and Rotary teaming up and making this years programming great!The After 3:00 Program is for youth 10-14years of age while the Summer Sports Camp is geared for youth 8-15 yrs of age.Parents can register their kids for either program by calling Veronica Fox @ 778-1383 or Lorraine Rivera @ 778-3321.
