Around the Islands

This meeting is strictly for those between the ages of 15 up to 25 years of age who have keen interest in promoting the interests of the youth population of Yap.

The Yap State Youth Summit will hold sessions at the Colonia Community Center beginning each day at 8 in the morning and end at 4:30 p.m. for four consecutive days.

Participants are expected to discuss some of the activities that they have been involved in during the past few years, and perhaps help identify which of those activities would be more suitable for today and the youth of tomorrow.

The summit is also expected to generate state youth response to the upcoming FSM Youth Summit scheduled to take place in Chuuk immediately following the Yap summit.

The Youth Service Office has requested all youths who wish to participate in the upcoming meetings to assist by having a lot of inputs during the discussions so the office would be able to get all the necessary information it needs in order to meet its objectives.

Pacific Islands Club donates $10,000 to NMC Foundation

(NMC) — Underscoring its support of providing a quality education for local students, the Pacific Islands Club Saipan donated $10,000 to the Northern Marianas College Foundation last Friday.

“The donation is made to support the college’s efforts to enhance its program offerings and services,” said Kieran Daly, general manager of the Pacific Islands Club Saipan. “It is extremely important that CNMI students have easy access to a high quality education locally so that they can become productive members of this community.”

The donation was also presented in support of the upcoming Seventh Annual NMC Foundation Open golf tournament, which is organized by the NMC Foundation. The tournament, the organization’s signature event, aims to raise critical funds to support NMC’s academic programs and services.

“We were pleasantly surprised when we learned of the sizable donation from the Pacific Islands Club,” said Ben Babauta, president of the NMC Foundation. “We are truly grateful for their commitment to advancing higher education in the CNMI.”

The NMC Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise funds to support Northern Marianas College, the CNMI’s lone post-secondary educational institution. The organization is composed of individuals who are dedicated and committed to ensuring that CNMI students receive the utmost support in pursuing their educational goals.

“We are deeply appreciative of PIC’s donation,” said NMC President Carmen Fernandez. “Their contribution will make a significant impact on the college.”

Saipan Laolao will play host to the NMC Foundation open golf tournament scheduled for Saturday, June 13.
