CITING a conflict of interest, attorney Mark Scoggins asked the federal court to allow him to withdraw from representing Sze Man Yu Inos, also known as “Yuki.”

District Court for the NMI Magistrate Judge Heather Kennedy on Thursday granted Scoggins’ request and appointed attorney Joey San Nicolas to represent Inos.

In his motion to withdraw, Scoggins said that during a recent meeting with Inos at the Department of Corrections, she disclosed information that could potentially harm another client of his office.

“In my professional opinion, the information is beneficial to Ms. Inos’s defense, but my duties to another client prevent me from participating,” Scoggins said. “For this reason, I cannot continue to represent Ms. Inos consistent with my ethical duties.”

The grand jury has indicted Inos for luring older women on Saipan and Guam into a scheme in which she solicited money and investments in Bitcoin. The indictment details multiple instances of fraudulent communications and includes a criminal forfeiture allegation seeking the recovery of property or proceeds obtained through the scheme.

Inos faces eight counts of wire fraud and pled not guilty. Her jury trial, originally scheduled for Aug. 26, 2025, has been continued to Nov. 18, 2025.

Recently, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Internal Revenue Service Criminal Division seized $67,392.02 from Inos’ bank account, which is believed to be proceeds of her alleged wire fraud activities.
