EQPB permit applications

Four (4) residential and/or toilet facility permits were considered for the following individuals:

• PEA-102-09, Valentina Sukrad, Ngerchemai, Koror State• PEA-104-09, Anhel Salii, Medalaii, Koror State• PEA-109-09, Meruir Roduk, Iyebukl, Koror State• PEA-112-09, Postol Remeliik, Koska, Peleliu StateFour (4) other permits were issued to the following individuals/agencies/businesses.• PEA-078-00, Sandra Pierantozzi at Ngerkebesang, Koror State, for an extension of an existing permit for filling of adjacent land bordering the road to extend road shoulder and add more parking space.• PEA-105-09, National Development Bank of Palau at Ngetkib, Airai State.  This permit is to construct an extension to the existing building.• PEA-108-09, Roll’em Productions, Survivor Phillippines at Peleliu and Koror States.  This involves construction of a toilet facility with septic tank and leach field at the Youth Center in Peleliu.  It also involves construction of various challenge sets that will be built in Peleliu and the Rock Islands of Koror State.• PEA-111-09, Airai Water Paradise Hotel & Spa and Lucky Gem Construction was issued a permit to construct a septic tank, leach field and walkway and improvement of a drainage system.  The original permit was issued to Airai View Hotel and Tao Yuan Construction with the same scope of work.  However, because EQPB Permits are NON-TRANSFERABLE, a new permit application was required to reflect the change of Hotel Management.Protection of our natural resources and the environment is a vital component of EQPB Programs.  There is a public misconception about EQPBs permitting process that it takes too long.  This is simply NOT TRUE.  A thorough and necessary process is carried out to close gaps where appropriate environmental protection measures are deemed necessary and provide alternative options to take.  These processes are done with all project applications and all possible outcomes and effects are carefully analyzed to ensure that proper environmental mitigation is acted upon to better serve the applicant’s purpose and protect the quality of the environment.  It will cost more to correct or fix a problem after it has occurred than preventing it from happening in the first place.EQPB would like the public to be more involved in the decision making process by sharing their views through writing, phone or e-mail, its performance is reliant on the public’s views.  EQPB can be reached at 488-1639/3600 or via email, [email protected].  In doing so, together we help efforts in protecting our pristine and fragile environment of Palau.
