Man charged in Palau hotel theft

The prosecution said Steven Skilang entered a room at Palau Pacific Resort and took off with the guests’ cash — 10,000 yen, or $100, and $750.

Skilang was a hotel employee at the time.

He was working  the graveyard shift at the front desk of the hotel when he saw the victims, a Japanese couple, leaving their room to go diving.

Skilang took the keys and entered the victims’ room, opened the safe and stole their cash, the prosecution stated.

It added that Skilang admitted to a security officer that he took the money and paid back the victims.
