THE True North Familia took home the Bud Light Cup in the Thursday Flame Tree Division of the Saipan Electronic Darts Association League after outlasting the True North Vipers 8-7 Thursday at the True North Bar.
The battle between the Familia and the Vipers was intense with neither team able to gain the upper hand.
Vipers Manny Degracia and John Rebuenog drew first blood as they won the opening game of the Partners 501 Double in/Double Out match. However, the Familia’s Justin Mizutani and Joe paired up to snatch the second game of the match to even the score 1-1.
Then, as individuals, the Familia team members seized the first lead of the night.
In the Singles Crazy Cricket match, Dan Repeki, Franklin Faisao and Olympio “Munz” Muna thrived in the one-on-one battle, pulling a 3-1 run to hand the Familia a 4-2 advantage.
The team then split the Partners 701 match, but in the following Singles Half-It match, the Vipers flipped the script with a 3-1 run of their own, thanks to Degracia, Julian Matsutaro and Tanner Maritita, to tie the match 6-6.
After the opposing teams split the next Partners Regular Cricket match, it all came down to the final Team 1101 Open In/Double Out match.
The Familia reigned supreme and bagged the eighth victory needed to beat the Vipers and win the Bud Light Cup.
