THE removal of the tower cranes from Imperial Pacific International’s casino hotel building in Garapan is expected to resume today, Tuesday.
Jess Aquiningoc, who leads a team of IPI’s in-house construction workers, said they will work on the second mast, which is right below the turntable of tower crane No. 6 “if the weather permits.”
There are two other tower cranes that need to be dismantled and removed from the unfinished building.
The removal of the tower cranes was suspended on Dec. 7, 2021 due to the breakdown of IPI’s hydraulic machine, IPI construction manager Eric Poon informed the Department of Public Works on Dec. 20, 2021.
Commonwealth Casino Commission Executive Director Andrew Yeom said he was “very much relieved” that the crane removal project resumed after IPI purchased a new hydraulic machine from a local ship repair and maintenance company.
Yeom said the removal project has gone “on and off, weather permitting, depending on the wind condition together with other technical difficulties they have faced along the way.”
“Regardless of the various challenges, I am pleased to see that it is moving along [to ensure the] safety of our public and the properties nearby.”
Tower crane No. 6 is seen at the unfinished Imperial Pacific International casino-hotel in Garapan.
