Traffic accidents, disturbing the peace top list of weekend incidents

DPS spokesman Eric F. David said  from 6 p.m. on Friday until 6 a.m. on Monday, police responded to 15 traffic accidents and 15 cases of disturbing the peace.

The number for the traffic accidents reduced by three from last week’s 18 traffic accidents last weekend for the same 84-hour period.

Once again, David said  DPS is urging the public to be careful and follow traffic rules and regulations.

David said DPS made 13 criminal arrests for the weekend for various offenses.

Police also responded to nine incidents of criminal mischief, eight incidents of theft,  seven cases of burglary and theft, four truancy incidents, two incidents of burglary and two juvenile arrests for minors consuming alcohol.

David said police likewise responded to three incidents of illegal possession of contraband, two cases of minor consuming alcohol, and one incident each for assault and battery, contempt of court, loitering, stolen vehicle, attempted suicide and civil matter.

The records showed 14 disregarded complaints and 10 logged-in cases.

For the same period, police arrested six individuals for driving under the influence of liquor, with two of the individuals having low blood alcohol. Two were arrested for reckless driving.

David said police received two unexploded ordnance calls and recovered two pieces of unexploded ordnance.
