13,398 cases of swine flu in 48 countries

The Ministry of Health regretfully informs the leadership, its partners, and the general public that there are no more available influenza vaccines; however, the next shipment of the new strain is expected in September 2009.  The Ministry continues to secure and implement the following additional measures to ensure rapid detection and containment, should the virus enter our borders.

• Influenza Screening Protocols, including lab testing of suspect cases• Levels of Care and Treatment of patients with Influenza-like Illnesses (ILI) at all Health-care Facilities within the Republic of Palau• Belau National Hospital Triage Decision Guidelines for Influenza A(H1N1)• Treatment and Prophylaxis Protocols for Influenza A(H1N1)• Collaboration with Continental Airlines to allow for more efficient Public Health screening• Continued training for health care personnel, including PPE and testing of suspect cases• Public awareness efforts to focus on preventive measures• Surge capacity to secure isolation areas in alternative health care facilitiesQuestions regarding Ministry of Health response operations should be directed to the MOH-EOC at   488-0675, during working hours.  Thank you.The 24-HOUR HOTLINE NUMBER FOR INFLUENZA A(H1N1) IS 488-0555, for medical or general information on the flu.
