DPS officers undergo CPR training

According to DPS acting spokesman Jason T. Tarkong, the police officers took the cardiopulmonary resuscitation course for the Professional Rescuer’s Course.

He said this is an important training for the police officers who belong to the First Responders.

Tarkong said that DPS is looking toward certifying most, if not all, of the DPS personnel in the next few weeks—from highway patrol and traffic officers, to the staff of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Bureau of Motor Vehicles to administrative personnel.

Tarkong said that according to Kennedy Benjamin, Health & Safety Coordinator American Red Cross- NMI Chapter, the eight hour advanced training course goes into detail as to the type of care that they provide for the different situations they find themselves in.

This covers the basic from applying a bandage to stop the bleeding to using an oxygen tank and an automated external defibrillator in the event of a heart attack.
