Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason T. Tarkong said that police responded to a car burglary report at about 9:44 a.m on July 26 at the Vestcor Village apartment complex in Capital Hill.
Tarkong said police officer John Cabrera who responded to the scene met with the apartment tenants whose cars were broken into.
Police learned that several items were stolen from the cars such as a Pioneer CD player, several sunglasses, keys, and other miscellaneous items.
Tarkong said the suspects gained access into the cars through the small quarter panel glass windows, as evidenced by the smashed panel glass left inside the cars and on the ground.
He added that the burglars broke into four sedans and a sport utility vehicle.
“The crimes occurred while the tenants were asleep in their apartments and they did not discover it until early the next morning,” Tarkong said.
He said DPS is withholding the names of the victims pending investigation.
He added that Crime Scene Technicians who also responded to the incident processed the crime scene.
Once again, Tarkong said DPS is asking the community for support and assistance by calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272 if they have any information about the crime.
All calls to the Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and caller ID is not used.
