(SULC) — On July 27, 2025, the local community came together to support the Saipan Unity Lions Club Back-to-School Project and School Supplies Distribution, an initiative aimed at providing essential school supplies and fun activities for children in need.
Held at Mt. Carmel’s social hall in Chalan Kanoa, the event served 101 students aged 16 and under, equipping them with the tools to start the new school year with confidence.
Thanks to the generous contributions of The Bar, LLC, Creative Salon and Spa, Kim’s Hairmate, Perfect Image Beauty Salon, Velleza Blowdry Bar & Spa, and Zi Salon and Barber Shop, as well as the dedication of volunteer barbers and hairdressers, the project was a resounding success.
Attendees were delighted to receive one of 50 packs of school supplies, which included notebooks, pencils, and other classroom essentials. The event also featured a vibrant kids’ corner filled with engaging activities. Children enjoyed a creative coloring area, fun games, and exciting prizes — adding joy to the day and fostering a sense of community among participants.
“We believe that every child deserves the chance to start the school year prepared and with a smile,” said Saipan Unity Lions Club President Angelica Lastimado. “We are incredibly grateful to our local businesses and volunteers for their support. This event truly embodies the spirit of our community coming together for a great cause.”
The positive feedback from families underscored the importance of such initiatives. Many expressed their gratitude for the support and resources provided, emphasizing the impact the project has had on their children’s educational journey.
As summer draws to a close, community members look forward to similar events that not only contribute to children’s education but also strengthen a sense of belonging. The Back-to-School Project has set a high standard for future gatherings, reinforcing the collective commitment to ensuring that all students have the tools they need to succeed.
