It is impossible that millions of taxpayer dollars and federal funds have been grossly and negligently expended over a mismanaged and miscalculated rehabilitation and repair efforts of our public utilities and today the cuc executive director is silent about our power plant’s current condition.
We would like to witness and judge firsthand for ourselves as consumers to include obtaining a full explanation of what CUC’s special interest contracted crews, mechanics, and consultants from Fiji or American Samoa have rehabilitated and repaired.
We want to know what progress has been made if any and how many engines are operational, cannibalized or awaiting parts.
The Commonwealth Utilities is a PUBLIC UTILITIES CORPORATION and the PUBLIC has the right know the progress made and how many engines are operational, cannibalized or waiting for parts.
Three and a half years since this administration’s rehabilitation and repair efforts have taken place, along with excessive emergency declarations and millions of dollars expended, and today the executive director of CUC is SILENT on the matter.
We believe that the people of the commonwealth and consumers demand and expect major improvements of at least 70 megawatts of power output as promised in the second and third State of the Commonwealth Address of Gov. Benigno Fitial based on CUC’s projections.
Excessive and unjustified exorbitant power rates are still being inflicted upon the consumers without any updates on our power plant’s improvements.
Therefore, we strongly recommend that CUC consider our request for a TOUR of Power Plant 1 so that we may know and understand what improvements and progress have been achieved.
To deny such a request will be an injustice to all CUC consumers who continue to suffer from such exorbitant power rates and certainly would VALIDATE the concerns we have raised in this letter.
